General Practice Resources
General Practice is the main provider of sexual health care in NSW. Forty-five per-cent of Australians diagnosed with an STI or blood borne virus receive treatment through general practice compared to only 8% treated through publicly funded sexual health services.
The NSW General Practice Project aims to increase the amount of sexual history taking and targeted STI testing conducted within NSW general practices and support general practitioners to manage sexually transmissible infections within their practice. Specifically by:
- Improving access to STI information, training and resources.
- Strengthening links to publicly funded sexual health services.
